Our Collective Works
The knowledge and experience in coastal resource management of the foundation were accumulated more than 30 years by learning and working in this area since the establishment of the Coastal Resources Institute. Prince of Songkla University in 1989. The integration of knowledge and transferred knowledge to society in various forms are the strength of the organization. This marks the beginning of the organization in the field of coastal resource management by assembling a research team to build strength in coastal resource management and working with universities and organizations from the United States and Europe. The foundation developed the knowledge of coastal resource management from the Pak Phanang watershed area, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. This is called a real learning area (living laboratory) that can be transferred or exchanged with other areas or neighboring countries. Foundation’s expertise Works that demonstrate the foundation’s specific expertise in coastal and marine resource management including mangrove rehabilitation and management as well as coastal community management.

– Coastal resources management and mangrove rehabilitation in Kampot, Cambodia.
– Marine ecosystem management project for the Myeik Islands, Bay of Bengal
– Comparative analyses of coastal components (mangroves, seagrass meadows, and fringing corals) and key processes (system metabolism, nutrient cycling, sedimentation rate, light penetration) of coastal zones along a gradation of contrasting siltation rates to examine the long-term and instantaneous responses of coastal ecosystems
Coastal Protection
– Community-based mangrove forest and coastal resource management emphasizing the use of local wisdom in creating bamboo ridges and mangrove planting by the local community to prevent coastal erosion in Thasak Subdistrict, Mueang District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province This was an operation to develop the potential for coastal erosion prevention by the community.
