On Going Project

The CORIN-Asia Foundation has established a unit for education and expansion of CORIN-Innovation by developing a new innovation called BIOCY mangrove, which is the development of organic, biodegradable lightweight concrete cylinders. This product uses modern production technology and uses environmentally friendly materials, suitable for planting mangrove seedlings in areas with limitations, such as areas with waves, non-muddy soil, or areas with low soil nutrients. Planting mangroves in the developed biodegradable lightweight concrete cylinders can help increase the survival rate of mangrove seedlings, such as mangroves or sea sedges. The concrete cylinders used for planting will gradually decompose over 3-5 years, which is enough time for mangroves to grow and be able to withstand the environment. Planting mangroves in this way also helps prevent coastal erosion, reduces the impacts of waves, wind, and currents, and increases the stability of coastal areas sustainably. Increasing the efficiency of coastal erosion prevention will greatly reduce the burden on responsible government agencies. This approach can be expanded in the Southeast Asian region, and especially several Middle Eastern countries with limited coastal areas but want to plant mangroves in accordance with the 26th United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26).
